What Is The Name Of This Garden Tool?
It’s the hand-held, people-powered version of a “weed whacker”…my family had a couple when I was a kid, and I can’t seem to find the right search term for them…or maybe they don’t exist anymore. Anyways, hopefully the following image helps. The bottom part is serrated.http://iowa-raves.com/images/weedwhacker…
I believe the name of that implement is called a “Grass Whip”.
Kapri has the correct answer. Another version of what you’re talking about is a weed cutter. I have one of these I clear the tree line with. I call mine a weed whacker too even though technically it is called a weed cutter. Everyone has to be so politically correct I can’t stand it – it’s a weed whacker to me.http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pr…
A similar item sold in the UK is known as a “Swoe”.Manufactured by Wilkinson, the trade name derives from sword and hoe.
It is indeed a weed whip and is still made by Ames True Temper. You can buy them in most garden and hardware stores.
they are called long handled sickle and you can still buy
from good garden centres
Takes me back a few years! We had a slightly different version that I had to use as a kid. My Dad called it a yo-yo.
These are called “weed slingers” is what I have always been told when young an we had to use them..way before weed eaters even existed
Scythe
