What You Need to Know About a Water Filtration Faucet

water-filtration-faucetIf you are still one of the many people that has still somehow failed to heed the warnings that the contamination in our water supplies warrant the use of a water filtration faucet then you are not alone. In fact a friend who works in a water processing plant expressed to me how she was a little ashamed that she had yet to purchase a water filtration system for her home, specifically because of her children and the effect that it may have had on their longterm health.

I would probably be feeling the same way if I were her, the fact is that we all have been exposing ourselves and our children to carcinogenic chemicals everyday . And while she went on about how unforgivable it was that she hadn’t asked me sooner about a good filter system to buy and really beat herself up pretty badly, I quickly reminded her that the situation can quickly and decisively be fixed permanently by purchasing an effective quality water filter unit.

And the sooner the better.

But, this is exactly the way that many of us that haven’t taken action to finally fix this serious problem feel. And its no surprise since everyone from the government’s own EPA ( Environmental Protection Agency) to the National Resources Defense Council to the Ralph Nader Research Institute has warned us about the dangers of drinking unfiltered water, and yet there we are putting our health and the health of our families at risk.

The truth is that a water filtration faucet is necessary because of the 80,000 or so industrial chemicals that have leaked out of rusted, faulty, or cracked containers. And, it is necessary because of all of the herbicides and pesticides that have entered our groundwater. It’s also necessary due to your careless neighbor disposing of his old motor oil in the storm drain on your street.

It is our own doing that put all of these hazardous chemicals into our water supply. It started with chlorine at the turn of the century, which seemed innocent enough at the time, but throughout the last century the number of contaminants in our water supply has steadily grown. Now there are 2,100 individual chemicals that flow through our taps that are known to cause cancer in human beings.

Even if there was still only chlorine in our drinking water you would still require a water filtration faucet. Doctors and scientists now believe that the current epidemic of cancer and heart trouble is directly related to the use of chlorine that disinfects our water. These problems have increased steadily since the rise began merely two decades after chlorination was started.

There is no way that we can stop using chlorine due to the fact that ceasing its use would cause us to fall prey to all manner of waterborne disease. It seems that in trying to quell one epidemic we have created another on that is just as deadly if not more so. What we all need to do is to take the necessary measures in order to protect ourselves.

A water filtration faucet should contain two separate filters which are necessary in order to block these potentially deadly contaminants. You need both an activated granular carbon filter, and you need a multi media block in order to stop these toxic chemicals. You also want the addition of a sub micron filter to prevent the parasites and cysts that chlorine doesn’t eliminate from entering your home.

Hopefully by now you can truly understand how big this problem of contamination in our water supply has gotten, and just how serious a threat that it is. You absolutely need to get yourself a water filtration faucet as soon as you can, or your health and the health of your family could suffer.
