How Do I Make Recently Repainted Interior Doors Smooth Again?

I recently repainted some of the interiors doors in my home. It is an older home (1905) and the doors had several coats of paint on them. I used two coats of Benjamin Moore Eggshell Finish latex white paint on them. I used a Purdy paintbrush. The doors now have a gritty, almost rough texture and are noticeably less smooth than the doors i haven’t painted yet. What did I do wrong? How do I fix it?

You could try to bring back the smoothness by rubbing it down with the paper as used by auto repairers,
I think it is made by 3M, and has to be used with cold water.
When you have successfully completed the job,try a small foam roller, the size of a “tampax”, the results are outstanding, I painted an old fridge for a neighbor, and everyone thought it had been sprayed.

Xenon has it correct but use a little hand soap to ease the smoothing then rinse with clear water.
