Can Different Shades Of Wood Blinds Be Used Within A House Or Should The Same Wood Tone Be Used Throughout?
Have golden oak wood flooring on main floor, with light and dark furniture that varies per room. Upstairs is carpeted but all dark wood. Would it look weird from the ouside to use a light toned shade downstairs and a dark toned blind upstairs? Can different shades be used on the first floor too – where the blinds would match the wood furniture, or should it all complement the floor?
Sounds beautiful. Each room should reflect it’s own personality. Please, feel free to mix and match. You are going to LIVE in those rooms. Make them how you envision them. It will look very cool from the outside, too…..as if, WHY does that matter(?), whoops, sorry. Any way, if you think about it….does any wood in the forest clash? Or anything else of nature?

continuity should be continued threw out the windows in the front of the house that are noticeable. The front of your house is the first impression you have of your home. If the color difference is only a few shades different from the bottom floor to the top this might be acceptable but when you change it too much you will have an unpleasant impression from the outside.
whatever matches the room, but white is always the safest. Whatever you decide to do, make sure that all the windows in the front of the house match, otherwise it looks tacky and cheap.
The ones in the back don’t matter that much, though.

Having everything alike is no fun, mix it up a bit. You’ll love the different colors of wood. The dark browns, reds, yellows, whitish, and the lighter colors will look nice. I love red maple a lot, you should look up the different types of wood, looking up wood colors will help you with your decision. Also try different pieces in each room like unique drapes, a nice rug, some knick-knacks, paintings, mirrors, and etc. Your home is your home, you should make and enviornment where you can relax and where it can stimiulate your brain possitively. Its your house make it your own.
IF YOU CAN SEE INTO ALL THE ROOMS, LIKE AN OPEN CONCEPT ROOM, THEN I WOULD USE ALL THE SAME BLINDS TO COORDINATE WITH THE FLOORS. IN AN OPEN CONCEPT YOU WANT COLORS THAT COORDINATE WELL AND AREN’T TOO BUSY. BUT IF THE ROOMS ARE NOT VISIBLE FROM EACH OTHER, LIKE YOUR UPSTAIRS, THEN IT WOULD BE FINE TO DO DIFFERENT STYLES OR COLORS FROM THE DOWNSTAIRS. BUT I WOULD WANT TO COORDINATE WITH THE FLOORS IN ANY CASE AS THEY ARE THE DOMINANT FEATURE. IN THE END YOUR TASTE WILL BE THE DECIDING VOTE! HAVE FUN!
