What Type Of Pipes Do I Need To Pass My Plumbing Inspection?
My house is a new construction and the outgoing plumbing is just being installed. We are familiar with the type of pipes we need to get to the outside of the house but which type of pipes do we need to go from there to the septic tank? We assume they are different and we need to pass inspection.
If you are asking that kind of question, i feel you should ask the “inspector” what he would like to see. If you don’t know what type of pipe, you will not know the other laws pertaining to the proper installation of said sewer lines and you will likely fail anyhow.
ask your inspector or a licensed plumber in your area. all jurisdictions may vary.
USA ABS, PVC, Cellular Core PVC, cast iron and several other types are allowed per the International Plumbing Code. However, the local building inspection department has final say. Call them before you install any more pipe.
schedule 40 PVC from the house to the tank with a cleanout within 5 foot of the house is normal if you have an exceptionally long run cleanouts are required every 50 feet
I read Bobs answer and it’s correct. The Approved piping is the black ABS type. Like bob said make sure u have the proper cleanouts it will save u lots of headaches later in years.
you can use either pvc or abs and remember to install clean out tee’s.
ABS is approved in most places but I still prefer PVC. In Florida and here in Arkansas, it’s all we use.
In MD we use foamcore PVC in DE they like the pressure PVC.
