Would like to know how to dismantle the dashboard in a 2000 GMC Safari van to get access to dislodge the stuck door in the air conditioning ducts. The air conditioning only blows through the defroster vent, and no other vents in the van.

DO NOT DPSMANTLE DASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! hello i have a auto air conditioning shop and i have fixed lots of these safari vans same problem , your vacume hose is broken if you open hood remove air cleaner assembly look at carburater near base you will see a black hose its the vacume hose thats broke just get a plastic nipple and splice hose together . the doors in heater case work off vacume whenever you have this problem its alway vacume related

you do it best by going to a car garage and get them to do it………………………………

Sounds like you have a bad vacuum valve. Most late model cars use them to open and close the flaps out of the box. You would be better off having someone check that out then spending all day pulling out the dash.

The HVAC unit is either under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. All the blend doors are contained within it. You dont need to pull the dashboard as the tubes just run up to it.
